In a blog post, Eben Upton, the creator of Raspberry Pi, announced the immediate availability of the Raspberry Pi 5. The Raspberry Pi 5 is available in two variants, with 4GB or 8GB of RAM. The 4GB model costs $120, and the 8GB model costs $160.

The Raspberry Pi 5, which was announced nearly a month ago, has now entered mass production.

In a blog post, Eben Upton, CEO of the Raspberry Pi Foundation, announced that the Raspberry Pi 5 is now available for immediate purchase. This announcement comes three weeks after the unveiling of the latest generation of their flagship product.

The Raspberry Pi 5 is the latest iteration of the popular credit card-sized computer, and it features a number of improvements over the previous model, including a new Broadcom BCM2838B0 SoC with a quad-core Cortex-A78 CPU, a new VLIW2 GPU, and 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM. It also has a number of new connectivity options, including USB 4 Type-C, dual-band Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.3.

The new model boasts numerous improvements to the System on a Chip (SoC) and connectivity, making it a highly anticipated release for tech enthusiasts.

The first batch of units is set to be shipped to customers this week.

Those who have subscribed to MagPi and HackSpace magazines were given the opportunity to pre-order the Raspberry Pi 5 as a priority. These subscribers will be among the first to receive their orders, with deliveries expected to be completed by the end of this week.

Following this, official resellers will receive their stock and begin distributing to end customers. For instance, Kubii, one of the resellers, has already started notifying customers about the expected delivery dates. Customers who placed an order for the Raspberry Pi 5 4GB model on the morning of its announcement were informed via email that their orders are expected to be shipped between November 1 and November 10, 2023.

The Raspberry Pi 5 comes with a host of new features and improvements over its predecessor. It is equipped with a 2.4GHz quad-core 64-bit Arm Cortex-A76 CPU and a VideoCore VII GPU that supports OpenGL ES 3.1 and Vulkan 1.2. It also offers dual 4Kp60 HDMI display output and dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi.

The Raspberry Pi 5 is expected to be in high demand, and Upton said that the Raspberry Pi Foundation is working to ramp up production to meet demand.

Customers can purchase the Raspberry Pi 5 from the Raspberry Pi Foundation website, as well as from authorized resellers.
