Until now, Google’s Bard artificial intelligence chat has used information from the internet in its answers, but now Bard is turning into more of a personal assistant.
Google has unveiled new extensions for Bard, empowering it to tap into various Google products for its responses. These extensions encompass Maps, Gmail, Drive, Docs, and YouTube, unlocking a world of possibilities for Bard’s capabilities.
With these extensions, Bard can now use information from various Google services such as Gmail and Drive accounts to answer your questions and help you with your tasks. This means that Bard can access your emails, documents, and other files to provide you with more personalized and relevant assistance.
For example, you can ask Bard to search your email for all the messages you received from a specific person or to summarize a document that you have stored in Drive. You can also ask Bard to help you plan a trip by searching for flights, hotels, and directions.
What Google’s Extensions for Bard Can Do?
Email Mastery: Bard can now sift through your email messages from specific senders and create condensed summaries of the conversations, making it easier to stay organized.
Drive Integration: Need a specific document from your Drive? Bard can locate it for you and provide a concise summary, saving you time and effort.
YouTube Insights: When seeking additional information, Bard can scour YouTube for relevant videos or guides to complement your knowledge.
Travel Assistance: With access to Maps and Flights, Bard can assist in planning your trips, ensuring a smoother travel experience.
For now, these extensions are available exclusively in English, so non-English-speaking countries may have to wait for a few months to use them.
To use Bard’s extensions, you need to enable them in the settings. Once you have enabled them, you can start using Bard to access information from your Google products.
Enhanced Accuracy
Google has also introduced a feature that allows you to fact-check Bard’s responses more effectively. By clicking the “G” button, Bard will assess the response’s accuracy by searching online sources for supporting or conflicting information. Click on highlighted sentences to delve deeper into the context.
Just like the extensions, this verification feature is currently available only for responses in English.
Google emphasizes that personal content remains secure when utilized by Bard. Your Gmail, Docs, and Drive content is not visible to others, and Bard doesn’t use it for advertising or training purposes.
it assures that the staff monitoring Bard’s operations won’t have access to your messages exchanged via Google services with Bard.
If desired, you have the option to disable these extensions in the settings.
