The first update reveals that Bard has been updated to provide better capabilities for math and logic. This is most likely due to the switch to the PaLM model, as Sundar Pichai, Google’s CEO, recently announced that the company would be shifting from the smaller LaMDA language model to the larger PaLM model. The second update notes that Bard now includes additional search topics that are suggested when people click “Google it”. This means that users will be able to explore a wider range of interests with more related topics.
Providing more transparency in the development of the chatbot is definitely a step in the right direction for Google. While the breakdowns in the updates provided so far are brief and somewhat vague, it is a start in giving the public more insight into their training and improvement process.
