It’s imperative for them to challenge the status quo and remain receptive to fresh ideas and alternative approaches. By embracing emerging technologies and spearheading digital transformation initiatives, they can empower businesses to stay ahead of the curve.

IT leaders who resist growth and fail to adapt run the risk of falling behind. Instead, they must be proactive in staying informed about new technologies that can drive business growth and continuously acquire new skills to stay relevant.

By harnessing the power of AI and automation, IT leaders can reduce the time and resources spent on manual tasks, enabling their teams to focus on strategic initiatives that drive business growth. Nearly half of our survey respondents (49%) have already automated over 50% of their IT processes. Additionally, 46% are at an advanced stage of adopting AI. This shows a big move towards intelligent automation.

While new technologies, particularly AI, can raise concerns, IT leaders can address them head on with strategic planning and by fostering collaboration. Their role is vital for championing the adoption of these technologies and inspiring their teams to achieve successful implementation. Businesses can then confidently harness the power of technology to drive success.

The importance of upgrading and upskilling

While focusing on the implementation of new technology is important, IT leaders mustn’t overlook the crucial task of upgrading outdated infrastructure. Legacy systems not only impede operational efficiency but also present security risks and hinder seamless integration with modern technologies.

Our research shows that 46% of IT leaders are increasing their budgets in 2024 to update current platforms and systems.  So, by strategically investing in infrastructure upgrades, businesses quickly unlock enhanced performance, fortified security measures, and reliable operations. The result? Improved outcomes and sustained growth.

At the same time, equipping their teams with new skills empowers IT leaders to ensure staff effectively manage and optimize emerging technologies. Embracing this approach nurtures a culture of continuous learning and adaptability, fostering an environment where individuals can constantly grow. By nurturing a highly skilled workforce, organizations can effectively identify and leverage technology-driven opportunities for growth and innovation.
