World’s first AI Interns hired for the 3-month trial job alongside 106 humans

A revolutionary development in the tech industry has occurred as Codeword, a top-notch tech-marketing agency has made history by hiring the world’s first AI interns named Aiden and Aiko. The groundbreaking move will see “AI interns” fully embedded into the company’s creative team and working alongside Codeword’s team of 106 human employees for a three-month trial internship period to explore the possibilities of human-AI collaborations in the creative industry.

According to Kyle Monson, partner at Codeword, “there’s a lot of talk and fear and hype about how new AI tools will integrate with creative teams”. He added that as an agency that straddles the creative and technology worlds, the company wants to explore what human-AI collaborations can look like, and will do it in public, so its team and community can learn from the experiment.

Aiden will join the agency’s editorial team, working alongside a team of more than 30 writers and editors, while Aiko will work with the design team, which includes graphic designers, videographers, animators, UX designers, and front-end developers. Both interns will be given internal creative assignments, share their experiences on the company blog and social media, and will receive regular performance evaluations throughout their three-month internship.

While the interns are not expected to produce client-facing work, they may be asked to do the kind of creative work that AI is good at, such as handling content at scale. For example, they may be tasked with generating large volumes of rough concept thumbnails for mood boards, news and trend research, or voice and tone analysis for the editorial team.

Codeword, which is part of the WE Communications family, is one of the leading agencies in the world for content, PR, and integrated marketing, working with many of the world’s top technology brands. The company sees a lot of potential in using AI to produce great work faster and streamline internal processes. However, the company is taking a cautious approach, experimenting with integrating AI techniques into carefully controlled internal workflows before using them commercially.

The advent of AI interns marks a significant shift in the paradigm of the workforce. The integration of AI in the workforce is a development that has the potential to bring about a profound change in the way we live and work. As automation and artificial intelligence continue to advance, they are increasingly being utilized to augment human capabilities and automate routine tasks. This has the potential to greatly increase productivity and efficiency across a wide range of industries and to create new opportunities for individuals and businesses.

AI will also have an impact on the nature of work itself. As tasks are automated and decision-making is delegated to machines, the nature of work will shift from manual labor to knowledge work. This could lead to a greater emphasis on skills such as creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking, and could require workers to continually reskill and upskill. This change in the nature of work may lead to a different industry structure, with workers becoming shift workers or freelancers, rather than employees.
